Keep your eyes and ears on this one. Mikey may just turn out to be Canada's biggest contribution to reggae music to date. The liner notes to 'Let It Sing' suggest this album's power might not be Mikey alone, but the resulting magic of a synchronous song writing team. A chance meeting over coffee and cigarettes created a brotherly bond between Mikey and fellow-Torontonian Roberto Philipp. Their combined vision paints roots reggae with a whole new palette of colours, bringing a refreshing, intoxicating air to the songs.Building around acoustic guitar, Mikey and Roberto add electro-organic elements of B3, strings and tasty harmonies. A whiff of Country blends well into the mix and betrays the island rhythms' home in the True North, Strong and Free.
