Sunday, September 17th at The Rickshaw: Marshall Crenshaw y Los Straitjackets combines the shared sensibilities of a pop-rock maestro & a band of guitar-wielding masked marauders. Marshall Crenshaw learned to tune a guitar at age ten and has been making music ever since. His first big break came in 1978 playing the role of John Lennon in “Beatlemania” on Broadway. Over the course of a career that's spanned nearly four decades, 13 albums, Grammy and Golden Globe nominations, film and TV appearances (Buddy Holly in "La Bamba") and thousands of performances, Crenshaw's musical output has maintained a consistent fidelity to the qualities of artfulness, craftsmanship and passion, and his efforts have been rewarded with the devotion of a broad and remarkably loyal fan base.

LOOKING AHEAD

October 26th at The Queen Elizabeth Theatre: Jesse Cook is ready to launch his new album, Beyond Borders.  This is the most sonically diverse and distinctive disc in Cook’s vast and varied catalogue. This catalogue has earned him 11 JUNO nominations and one JUNO win in the Best Instrumental Album category for 2000’s Free Fall. Beyond Borders is an in depth musical journey exploring the exotic boundaries of world music.

“There are many borders in our lives. Some are built by others, some we create for ourselves. Whenever I have ventured beyond the borders in my life, I have been the better for it,” says Cook. Beauty, humanity, artistry, joy, wisdom, and of course love…these things don’t stop at some line on a page. If music is the universal language, maybe there is something it can teach us?”Listen for our debut on World Beat Canada!, 983 FM, Roundhouse Radio.
